RN to Bachelor of Science Degree

This program is designed for registered nurses with an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing who wish to complete their baccalaureate degree. The College of Nursing has designed an accelerated program that recognizes the academic credits from the student's basic program. In addition, the credit requirement for graduation is reduced to 120 credits, nursing courses are specifically designed for RNs and the opportunity to take graduate level courses in nursing or related disciplines in partial fulfillment of the BS degree requirements is provided.

The RN to BS program requires 120 credits for graduation. Credits from other accredited colleges are accepted; however the student must complete at least 30 credits at URI in order to earn the B.S. degree in nursing. Students are assigned a faculty advisor who will provide individual assistance in planning a program of study.


Admission Requirements

  • Diploma or associate degree in nursing from an NLN-accredited program.
  • Current Rhode Island R.N. license.
  • Current clinical practice experience.
  • Acceptance by the Undergraduate Admissions Office into the B.S. degree program in nursing.
