Undergraduate Graduation Information
Here are a few reminders as you prepare for the Sunday, May 18, 2008 Commencement Ceremony:
- If you wish to have your name in the Commencement program and/or in your local newspaper, you need to check to see if you have restricted access to your information. If so, you would need the information restriction (FERPA) lifted. To do so, log on to ecampus, click on “SA Self Service”>“Personal Portfolio”> “Tasks”>“FERPA/Directory Restrictions. If you have a FERPA restriction, uncheck the appropriate field(s) and click “SAVE”. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Enrollment Services at 401-874-9500. YOU MUST REMOVE IN ORDER TO HAVE YOUR NAME LISTED.
- If you plan to receive a minor, please be sure that the paperwork is on file in the Dean’s Office by April 20. (May 2008 and August 2008 graduates)****
- Order your cap and gown at the URI Bookstore.
- If you have been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and wish to order a cord – go to their website: www.nursingsociety.org >menu>catalog of products>gifts>honor cards or contact Patricia Stout. The bookstore does not carry honors cords.
- Balfour will be on campus Monday, March 3rd from 11:30-1:00 to take orders for nursing pins. Information regarding cost will be forthcoming. If you are unable to order a pin at that time please contact Nancy Tucker at 401-874-5301 or email her at natucker@uri.edu to request an order form. (May 2008 and August 2008 graduates)****
- Vantine Studios will be on campus to take photos for the College of Nursing composite on Monday, April 14 from 11:00-1:00 pm in White Hall Student Commons. Please wear a white blouse, shirt or uniform top. The composite fee (approximately $25) will be collected by your class representative. If you wish to purchase an additional portrait package, PLEASE BRING A $10.00 deposit.(cash/checks or credit cards are acceptable) .****
On Graduation Day
- Assemble on Lower College Road in academic attire in designated area at noon where a marshall from the College of Nursing will lead students to the ceremony.
- The nursing pinning ceremony will take place in the Fine Arts Building – Recital Hall immediately following the main ceremony at approximately 2:00-2:30 pm. An informal reception will follow the Pinning Ceremony.****
- Students are asked to choose 1-2 people to help “Pin” them during the ceremony.****
- If there is a slide/photo show, please be sure your name appears somewhere on the photo so that it can be returned to you following the ceremony.****
- Please note: No tickets are required if the main commencement ceremony is held on the Quadrangle. However, in the event of rain and the main ceremony is held in the Ryan Center, due to fire regulations, you will be allowed only two (2) guest tickets (which you will receive at the time you pick up your cap and gown from the URI Bookstore). Any additional guests should go directly to the College of Nursing mini-ceremony site (Fine Arts Recital Hall) where they will be able to view a simulcast of the commencement ceremony.

****December 2007 graduates who only wish to participate in the Main Commencement ceremony may disregard these specific reminders. Please feel free to contact Mary or Nancy if you have any questions.
