Leadership Institute for New Students
Get a head start on your involvement at URI! The First-Year Student Leadership Institute is designed for incoming freshmen who want to become active leaders at URI. This weekend Institute is a combination of exciting workshops and interactive activities to promote trust, communication, diversity awareness, advocacy, activism, and the development of interpersonal relationships. The Institute is held Labor Day weekend. For more information, click here.
Campus Organizations
When it comes to student clubs and organizations, there’s something for everyone. You can choose from more than 100 student clubs and organizations listed here. If you can't find a club that suits your needs you can start a new one. Just contact the Involvement Office.
Volunteering

Greek Life
URI has an active and welcoming Greek Life community with over 20 organizations. You can find them on the Greek Life page.
URI Theatre
URI Theatre welcomes all students who are interested in theatre, regardless of major. It is a great way to become involved, earn credits, and make friends. For additional information, check out their audition page.
URI Bands
Do you play an instrument? At URI we have numerous ways to use your talent and skill. Join the Marching Band, Basketball Pep Band, or the Concert Band. For information about the band auditions, please visit the Ram Band Website.
Club Sports
There are over a dozen competitive collegiate teams at URI. You can compete against other colleges in a sport of your choice. You'll need to contact the team you wish to join to find out how. You can find them on the Club Sports web site.
Intramural Sports
If you are interested in sports outside of our collegiate competitive teams, you can join an intramural team. URI has volleyball, flag football, floor hockey and many more. To find a team that's right for you, visit the Intramural Sports page.
Cultural Centers
Working, volunteering, or just hanging out in a cultural center is a great way to be involved. You can meet others just like you or find new friends with a different perspective. At URI we have the Multicultural Center, the GLBT Center , and the Women's Center. Contact each center to find out more.
Religious Organizations
URI has several active religious student organizations. Hillel, the Muslim Student Association, and the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship are just a few of these organizations. For a complete list visit the URI Chaplain's page.
Honors Program
The Honors Program at URI gives students access to enhanced courses, support in applying for scholarships, and smaller classes. The Honors Program also assists our many honors societies such as Phi Betta Kappa, Golden Key, Phi Eta Sigma, and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
