About
Us
Established
in 1996, the Rhode Island Geriatric
Education Center is one of a national
network of geriatric education centers
supported, in part, by the
Bureau
of Health Professions, Health Resources
and Services
Administration
of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human
Services.
The
mission of the Rhode Island Geriatric
Education Center is to improve knowledge
and skills in geriatrics and gerontology
and to foster interdisciplinary training
for health care and human service
professionals in order to meet the complex
needs of the elderly and enhance their
quality of life. To that end, RIGEC
offers interdisciplinary geriatric
education for health care and human
service professionals on relevant topics
and training in geriatric content and team
process to interdisciplinary clinical
teams and community-based
groups.
RIGEC
