Curriculum
Guide
The
Rhode Island Geriatric Education Center is
pleased to offer the second edition
of
Interdisciplinary Practice in Geriatrics:
A Curriculum Guide
©
2001.
The
curriculum guide is divided into five core
modules/workshops and two advanced
practice case study modules/seminars. Each
module is interdisciplinary and
incorporates the perspectives of the
original four RIGEC disciplines of
medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and social
work. Core workshops are built around
three- to four-hour long presentations,
often with the discussion of one case to
illustrate the concepts and principles
presented. Advanced practice seminars are
built around Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
methods, relying on more extended case
discussions, with short lectures to
summarize the most recent research and
issues presented in the cases.
The
guide is meant to serve as an outline to
be used by individuals who provide or have
an interest in providing continuing
professional education and in-service
training in geriatrics and
interdisciplinary practice. The primary
target disciplines for this material are
medicine nursing, social work, pharmacy,
and nursing home administration. However,
the content is relevant for any health
care or human service professional who
works with older adults.

PowerPoint slides for each module,
