Vehicle Change Procedure

It is important to always have the vehicle information that is in your account at www.thepermitstore.com match the vehicle that you have on campus. It is the responsibility of the student, staff or faculty member to update their vehicle information anytime there are changes to their account such as a license plate change, vehicle change, address change, etc. It is also important to make sure all information is accurate even if only on a temporary basis (i.e.original vehicle has gone in for repair and you have a different vehicle on campus).

The process is as follows:

STUDENTS:

For a permanent or long-term vehicle change:

  1. Gently remove the current decal from the vehicle you will not be using. If the windshield is cold you can loosen the adhesive with a warm wet cloth or by turning on the defroster. Adhesive may be refreshed by rinsing the decal with warm soapy water and allow to air dry.
  2. Properly display the decal on the new vehicle.
  3. Go to www.thepermitstore.com, type in URI as your parking destination, click on "MY" and log into your account.
  4. Click on the permit order number for the current academic year's permit to open the vehicle information fields.
  5. Update your vehicle information to reflect the new vehicle.
  6. Make sure to update vehicle information again when you have your original vehicle back (if applicable).

For a short-term vehicle change:
If you will be using a different vehicle for less than a week or two, you do not need to transfer the decal but be sure to follow steps 3 - 6 so that the information in the computer matches the vehicle you have on campus.

FACULTY & STAFF:

  4. Update your vehicle information to reflect the new vehicle.
  5. Make sure to update vehicle information again when you have your original vehicle back (if applicable).
