Competition - The PeopleSoft Solution

Academia around the world is becoming competitive industry. We compete for students, research and grant funding, alumni and donations. To be successful in this new environment, the University of Rhode Island must excel not only in teaching and research, but also must be more efficient and effective in our business processes and services offered to students, alumni, faculty and staff. To accomplish this goal, the University has embarked on the implementation of new integrated enterprise-wide administrative software systems. These new systems will use client-server and web-based technology.

PeopleSoft was originally chosen by the Rhode Island public system of higher education because it was the only product offering a suite of integrated software solutions specifically designed for universities and colleges (PeopleSoft Student Administration, Financials, Human Resources, and Advancement systems). In fact, more than 475 universities and colleges are under contract to implement these systems to improve business processes and to make daily work easier for their academic communities. Implementation of PeopleSoft will provide URI with the next generation of information software to integrate, support, and enhance all types of services for students, faculty, alumni and staff well into the future.
