A Little About Me

Hi, my name is Gaye Kulvete. You may see me on the discussion list as "Dorothy Kulvete". That's me too but I go by my middle name. It's a southern thing. I was named after my grandmother Dorothy, who was named after her grandmother, Dorothy. Anyway, my mother called me by my middle name, then my brother and thus set a precedent for my sister too. It has been a tricky issue since first grade. I grew up in Florida but have been in Massachusetts for 13 years. I hope to get back to the beach and the sunshine one day.

I have been employed at the Groton Public Library in Groton, Massachusetts for seven years. A bachelor's degree in Accounting allows me the opportunity to work on the bills, budgeting and required state aid forms at the library. I also love working (unofficially) as the

young adult librarian. I began the GSLIS program in the Fall of 2003 and should be halfway through at the end of the Fall 2005 term. I look forward to pursuing a career in youth services and/or library administration. The Groton Public Library has existed for 150 years and is a wonderful place to work.

On a personal note, I have been married to my husband Dave for 22 years. We have two wonderful boys aged 17 and 14. This is the year we start looking at colleges and preparing to send our oldest off into the world. I have always loved reading and continue to be a lifelong learner. I also love to cook, walk, go to movies and theatre, listen to music, socialize with friends and do fun things with my family as much as possible. My favorite place to be at any time is the beach.
