Rhody Surf Classic
Results
The Rhody Surf Classic kicked off its first year with small glassy waves at Narragansett Town Beach last Saturday. While the early morning fog did have an effect on visibility, it did not put a damper on the spirits of competitors. Five teams competed in the collegiate team event, as well as over 40 individuals!
The club began setting up tents and banners at 8am, and signups began at 9am. Heats started roughly around 11:30, as the fog began to lift. The first division to hit the water was the Mens Shortboard, followed by Womens Shortboard and Open Longboard.

The dismal fog and overcast skies gradually changed to blue sky and sunshine for part of the contest. A grill was set up by the tents and the club sold burgers and hotdogs for a $1 each. The food was a big hit with contestants and beachgoers.

Team OG's took home $100 and this sick trophy!
Contestants walked away with sick prizes from Jetty, Gansett Juice Surf Shop, Warm Winds Surf Shop, Beach House Classic Boardshop, Vintage Soul wetsuits, Inbloom Stickers, Surfing Magazine, Surfer Magazine and Ronzio Pizza and Subs. |
