Vision

URI's College of Pharmacy will lead the way toward effective global health care by: developing innovative teaching practices, advancing research and practice, and merging true entrepreneurial spirit with care and compassion.

Mission

The College of Pharmacy fosters a learning-centered, research-oriented educational environment that encourages individuals to make positive life-long contributions to global health.  We prepare professional degree students to provide compassionate pharmacist-delivered patient care, and inspire our students through innovative problem-based learning, rich experiential curricula and inter-professional collaboration.  We foster a community of scholars who will further the body of knowledge in pharmaceutical, biomedical, and clinical sciences.  We strive to improve quality of life:  locally, nationally and globally.

Goals

Education
                                                           
1. Educate PharmD students to become accomplished and compassionate practitioners of pharmacist-delivered patient care.

2. Inspire lifelong commitments to learning, professionalism, and leadership.

3. Support high quality innovative experiential learning sites that empower professional degree students to practice and fully provide pharmacist-delivered patient care.

4. Develop and deliver innovative continuing education programs, including those that advance pharmacy and integrated health care.

5. Educate students and trainees to lead in the advancement of scientific discovery in the biomedical, pharmaceutical and clinical sciences toward greater understanding of human health.  

Scholarship and Research

6. Recruit and retain dedicated, expert and productive faculty to educate, train and inspire all students and to generate new knowledge for the advancement of human health.                 

7. Establish and maintain state-of-the-art facilities to promote faculty recruitment and retention and to improve the competitiveness of faculty in the pursuit and attainment of extramural research support.

8. Promote collaborative, innovative, interdisciplinary scholarship among diverse scholars locally, nationally and globally.

9. Develop and mentor the scholarship of teaching and research by the college community. 

Community and Service

10. Foster a strong diverse community, which encourages caring, integrity and respect between all students, faculty and staff in the College.                    

11. Promote service among students, faculty and staff to benefit local, national and global communities.

12. Provide an environment that encourages all students and faculty to play an active role in local, national and global pharmaceutical and biomedical organizations.

13. Develop an integrated healthcare network through partnerships with practitioners, health care organizations and other businesses, and professional organizations to better serve the changing needs of our community.
