Research Interests:
Dr. Stephen Kogut is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, of the
program in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics. In addition to
teaching, he is a registered and practicing pharmacist and also directs
numerous research projects. He works with various national and local
stakeholders to improve medication use among populations. His current
efforts include work for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services,
the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, and the American Association
of Colleges of Pharmacy. His local activities include ongoing projects
with the Rhode Island Medicaid pharmacy program and with Quality
Partners of Rhode Island, the state’s Medicare-contracted Quality
Improvement Organization. Dr. Kogut is a member of the Rhode Island
Board of Pharmacy and the Rhode Island Medicaid Drug Utilization Review
Board. His publications include studies of patient adherence to drug
therapies for chronic diseases and off-label prescribing.
