College of Pharmacy
> New Building > Research
Research
In addition to educating the
next generation of pharmacists, the college attracts millions of
dollars in research funding each year. Its numerous research
projects include investigations related to Alzheimer’s disease,
cardiac disease, arthritis, and cancer. And our
pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics groups conduct
important research into the clinical effectiveness and economic
impact of drug therapy.
The new pharmacy building will
house cutting-edge research facilities designed to foster
collaboration and the sharing of advanced scientific
instrumentation. These new facilities will help the college’s
research programs continue to grow: Between 2001 and 2006, the
program increased federal funding from $500,000 to over $9
million.

| Research Labs
Biology and chemistry research labs in the new building will
each offer approximately 1,350 square feet of work space and
will accommodate up to eight people. Each lab will have a bench
area, and equipment and instrumentation zones, as well as fume
hoods in the chemistry labs and tissue culture rooms in the
biology labs. |
