Upon completion of this program,
participants will be able
to:
Discuss the benefits and
administration challenges of newly licensed adult and adolescent
vaccines, with a focus on immunizations that prevent cervical
cancer, herpes zoster, and pertussis.
List two new antimicrobials, their
indications and place in practice.
Discuss the evidence-based
literature related to medications used to treat ADHD and
cardiovascular risk.
Differentiate between acute and
chronic pain and explain the current guidelines for therapeutic
management.
Describe a DVT prophylaxis protocol
for both hospitalized and ambulatory patients.
Target Audience
Community, hospital, managed care,
consultant pharmacists,
pharmacy technicians, and other interested health care professionals.
Continuing Education
Credits
Each
program will provide the participant with 1.5 contact hours (0.15
CEUs) of continuing education credit for a total of up to 7.5
contact hours for completion of the entire series. The University of
Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy
education. Attendance and completion of evaluation forms and
self-assessment tools at the conclusion of the program are required
for statement of credit. Statements will be mailed within four weeks
of the completion of the program.
