2nd Annual Summer Institute in Pharmacoepidemiology

Summer 2008
June 9-11, 2008

The Summer Institute is targeted at the many professionals and students planning careers in drug safety, development of practice guidelines, drug policy and clinical trials. The Institute will offer courses covering drug safety and efficacy, as well as related skills such as clinical trials, meta-analysis, data safety and monitoring, data bases used for surveillance and study of drug safety, risk management, and highly related topics such as e-prescribing and the physician-pharmacist interface. Each year, we will attempt to focus on specific disease areas or populations with unique challenges to studying safety and efficacy.

The format permits students to enroll in 5 courses that each meet for 3.5 hours over a three day period. Meal times permit faculty and students to continue discussions, exchange information, and identify topics for future research..

The Institute will be held at the Whispering Pines Conference Center at the W. Alton Jones Campus of the University of Rhode Island. The Center offers a complete meeting environment with outstanding conference rooms and facilities, AV equipment, support services, comfortable accommodations, and food service amidst 2300 acres in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, approximately 25 minutes by car or taxi from the Providence airport.
