Amy Duhaime received her Bachelor of Science in Medical
Technology from Indiana University and her Master of Forensic
Sciences from George Washington University. Amy has worked at
the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory since 1996 and has been
Safety Officer, Quality Manager, and Supervisor of Trace
Evidence section since 2004. Her duties include performing
physical and chemical analyses on trace evidence, including but
not limited to fire debris, hairs, fibers, and footwear
impressions, preparing reports, maintaining chain of custody of
evidence, testifying in court as requested, and presenting and
teaching during the Criminal Investigation: Scientific Evidence
I and II course.
Amy has gained expertise in various areas of trace evidence
analysis through courses, training and workshops taken from the
FBI, ATF, Connecticut State Police Forensic Laboratory,
University of West Virginia, American Academy of Forensic
Sciences, Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists,
Suffolk University, University of Rhode Island, and Boston
Police Department Forensic Laboratory. She is a member of
American Academy of Forensic Sciences, RI Chapter of the
International Association of Arson Investigators, Rhode Island
Criminalist Associates, Northeastern Association of Forensic
Scientists (where she served as Collegiate Competition
Coordinator in 2006, 2007, and 2008 and served on the Nominating
Committee in 2006 and 2007), New England Division of the
International Association of Identification (where she served as
President in 2007 and Chairman of the Board of Directors in
2008), New England Trace Evidence Examiners, and Association of
Forensic Quality Managers. Amy is also certified as a Diplomate
of the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC).
