Research
Dr Cowles maintains a
clinical practice site at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in
Pawtucket, RI in conjunction with the Departments of Pharmacy and
Pediatrics where he provides pharmacotherapy consults for children
admitted to the inpatient ward as well as to the hospital’s Primary Care
Pediatrics & Neurodevelopmental clinics. Dr Cowles precepts URI College
of Pharmacy students on clinical clerkship rotations through both
General Pediatric Medicine and Pediatric Ambulatory Care/Neurodevelopmental
Medicine in addition to participating in lecture series for Brown
University Family Medicine residents during their Pediatrics rotations.
Dr Cowles research interests focus primarily on the safe and effective
use of psychotropic and adjunctive medications in children with ADHD &
neurodevelopmental diagnoses such as autism. On campus, Dr Cowles is
co-coordinator of the Advanced Pediatric Pharmacotherapy elective course
and lectures in various other courses in the College of Pharmacy’s
curriculum.
