Dr. Matson’s research and clinical practice
is focused in Pediatric Medicine and Infectious Diseases (ID).
Currently, she is a preceptor for advanced practice experiences in
pediatric general medicine and ID for PharmD students at UMass Memorial
Children’s Medical Center. Students work collaboratively with Dr. Matson
and members of the pediatric team to assess, manage, and modify
patients’ pharmacotherapeutic regimens. She coordinates PHP440: Advanced
Pediatric Pharmacotherapy elective course and also teaches within other
required and elective pharmacy practice courses: PHP 350, 409, 410, 413,
414, 519, 542, and 900. Her clinical practice and scholarly interests
include judicious antimicrobial use to prevent and control bacterial
resistance, vaccines and childhood vaccination, and the use of novel
antimicrobials within the pediatric population, as well as, adolescent
substance abuse, childhood obesity, and education of pharmacy students.
