Research Interests

Dr. Orr’s research, teaching, and practice interests are in nonprescription medications, asthma management, and smoking cessation. Additional interests include herbal medicines and women’s health as it applies to community pharmacy practice. Dr. Orr is responsible for the development of community pharmacy advanced practice sites and preceptors. She precepts Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) students participating in community-based services including hypertension screening programs. She serves as a course coordinator of PHP 418 Self Care 1 and PHP 518 Self Care 2, in addition she coordinates the pulmonary therapeutics course. Dr. Orr currently serves as a member of the Nonprescription Medicines Academy (NMA) Steering Committee. Along with national pharmacy organizations, locally Dr. Orr is an active member and past-president of the Rhode Island Pharmacists’ Association, as well as a member of the RI Board of Pharmacy.
