Pharmacist’s Letter: Preceptor Training & Resource Network

We’re pleased to announce that University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy has made special arrangements to provide you with Preceptor Training & Resource Network from Pharmacist’s Letter.

Here’s what your access to Preceptor Training & Resource Network includes:

  • Access to University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy’s preceptor requirements, preceptor application forms, school specific training modules, etc.
  • Preceptor CE (home-based courses and live webinars)
  • Sample student syllabi, activities, assignments and schedules
  • Orientation, grading and evaluation tools
  • Targeted professionalism, patient safety and practice-based teaching resources
  • PL Journal Club (APPE teaching tools)
  • Pharmacy 101 (IPPE teaching tools)
  • End-of-rotation exams
  • Preceptor discussion board

Here’s how to set up your access:

  1. If you already have access to Pharmacist's Letter your subscription most likely includes Preceptor Training & Resource Network, which means you can access itthe same way you access Pharmacist's Letter.
  2. If you don't have access to Pharmacist's Letter, you need to set up a University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy Preceptor CE ID # as follows:

    1. Click here to be logged in automatically.
    2. Click Continuing Education on the left sidebar menu
    3. Click I Don’t Have a CE ID # in the yellow box on the right
    4. Fill out the form with your information and click Continue
    5. Verify your information and click to confirm your status as a preceptor for University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy
    6. Your CE ID # will be automatically created and you’ll be able to use it from any Internet-connected computer to access Preceptor Training & Resource Network.

Here’s how to access Preceptor Training & Resource Network:

Go to www.pharmacistsletter.com/ptrn, enter your CE ID # in the top box and click Login. (You won’t need a password.)

The Community Pharmacist Preceptor Education Program

Developed by American Pharmacists Association and National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation.

Continuing Education Credit

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation and the American Pharmacists Association are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as providers of continuing pharmacy education.  The ACPE Universal Program Number assigned to the program by the accredited providers is: 206-202-07-008-H04.

To obtain 3.0 contact hours of continuing  education credit (0.3 CEUs) for “The Community Pharmacist Preceptor Education Program,” complete the online assessment exercise located on www.nacdsfoundation.org.  A Statement of Credit will be awarded for a passing grade of 70% or better.  Participants who complete this exercise successfully before July 1, 2010, can receive credit.

“The Community Pharmacist Preceptor Education Program” is a home-study continuing education program for pharmacists developed by the American Pharmacists Association and NACDS foundation and supported by an educational grant from Merck & Co., Inc.

Instructions for Online Continuing Education Process

The NACDS Foundation is pleased to offer all continuing education Statements of Credit through an online system powered by RxSchool.  The user-friendly RxSchool system provides training program users an easy and secure way to track and store their continuing education credits.  Statements of credit may be processed by following the procedures below:

If you are already a registered user of RxSchool or the NACDS Foundation CE Center, use the following instructions:

  1. Go to www.nacdsfoundation.org and click on “CE Center.”
  2. Click the “Log In” link on the top left of the page.
  3. Log in to the system using your current username and password.
  4. Click the “My Profile” link and confirm that your last name and e-mail address are spelled correctly.
  5. Click the “Submit” button to save your changes.
  6. Click the “Distance CE” link and then click “The Community Pharmacist PreceptorEducation Program” link.  Click on “Enroll in this Distance CE.”
  7. Follow the online instructions, complete the online assessment and evaluations, and receive your Statement of Credit. 

If you are NOT a registered user of RxSchool or the NACDS Foundation CE Center, use the following instructions:

  1. Go to www.nacdsfoundation.org and click on “CE Center.”
  2. Click the “Register” link on the top left of the page.
  3. Fill out the registration form completely.  Confirm that your last name and e-mail address are spelled correctly.
  4. Click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page to complete your registration.
  5. Click the “Distance CE” link and then click “The Community Pharmacist Preceptor Education Program” link.  Click on “Enroll in this Distance CE.”
  6. Follow the online instructions, complete the online assessment and evaluations, and receive your Statement of Credit.
