The main area of research involves the population approach to pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling. In most analyses NONMEM is used to identify typical population parameters and measures of their variability in the population. Patient characteristics are then studied as potential sources of variability. The group has worked in several therapeutic areas including protease inhibitors and anti-cancer drugs.
In recent years the group has collaborated extensively with Dr. Fatemeh Akhalaghi’s group in the area of anti-rejection drugs. At the present time several projects have been completed or are nearing completion. These include the population pharmacokinetics and/or pharmacodynamics of: cyclosporine, prednisolone, topotecan lactone and mycophenolic acid.
