B.S.P.S. Financial Aid Request Form

The College of Pharmacy has a limited number of scholarships available to students. Many of these are the result of charitable donations from our alumni who want to give back to help others to earn a degree. These alumni remember the help that others provided them and the relief that some financial support gave them and their families. College scholarships are awarded and applied equally to both the fall and spring semester tuition and fee billing invoices. Cash awards are only available when a second semester student who is graduating receives financial aid.

Many of the college awards require evidence of financial need. To be considered for need based financial aid each year, you must fill out FASFA paperwork available from the URI financial aid area or on the financial aid website for each year you intend to apply for aid. The college receives a list of students who qualify from Financial Aid via that mechanism that shows actual unmet financial need and we use this information when making awards. Those forms are due by March 1 each year. We also require that for college awards, students fill out application to this college application.

Other scholarships do not require evidence of financial need.  Some of these scholarships require that you come from a specific state, show interest in certain parts of the pharmaceutical sciences, or that you currently work for a specific company. Any student is eligible for these non need based awards if they complete the College application process below.

Please complete all applicable areas of the form or write N/A or "not applicable" in those questions which do not apply in your case. The form must be completed by July 30, 2012. A committee of college administrators and faculty will evaluate applications and make awards.

We also expect that students, who receive awards, write a letter of thanks to the scholarship donor. Letters are delivered to the donor through the URI Foundation. Thank you letters are due back to the foundation by September 1st and will be considered when making new or continuing awards each year.

Some of the special scholarship awards will be presented during our annual Professionalism day or at other special college and URI Foundation events. Recipients of these special awards will be notified of those events. It is expected that recipients of these special awards will be present for the award ceremony which honors both the recipient and the donor.

College Scholarship Award letters will go out in August and at other times each year as awards are made.

APPLICATIONS FOR THS YEAR ARE CLOSED
