About the Inauguration of
President David M. Dooley

A clip of remarks made by President Dooley to members of the press at URI's annual media breakfast, March 5, 2010.

"April 8th is really a celebration of the University of Rhode Island and its future. I think it's secondarily the inauguration of me. But I think it's really important for the University of Rhode Island and for the State of Rhode Island to take a day like I hope April 8th will be and take a couple of steps back from both its present circumstances and many steps back from its past and ask a series of different questions about the future of the University and the future of the state...." -- President David M. Dooley

Transforming the World

"It's a simple fact that the kinds of skills that the students are going to need for the future are the kinds of skills and experiences that are going to be hard to come by in the formal classroom. The goal of the modern university is to prepare students for things we don't yet know exist." -- David M. Dooley
