Policies
The Media and Technology Services (MTS) group provides facilities management services for Instructional Computing Facilities, which include the Providence facilities. When facilities are not scheduled for class, URI faculty, staff, and students may use them after signing in with a valid URI ID. Windows-based systems will be available on a first-come, first-in basis. If necessary, a waiting list will be maintained by the Lab Assistant. When a waiting list exists, a machine may be used for no longer than 60 minutes. All users must provide their own drives for data storage.
A Lab Assistant is present in each facility to provide security and give basic assistance in using the facilities. The Lab Assistant is not expected to teach new users how to use the equipment or provide in-depth consultation on difficult problems. If you have comments on the operation of the facilities, please call us at 401-277-5282.
Please cooperate in keeping the facilities neat and in order. Under no circumstances is smoking, drinking, or eating permitted. At the end of each work session, take the time to leave the area in order. Remember, no one enjoys working in a mess, and your cooperation will be appreciated.
