Highlight of Courses
The Biotechnology Training Initiative at the URI Providence Biotechnology Center is proud to present their short-course lectures and hands-on workshops on the entire spectrum of critical unit operations used in upstream and downstream processing. The program is taught by experts drawn from industry, research, private practice and regulatory groups, most with 20 plus years of professional application experience. The latest commercial equipment is available for hands-on training for each specialized operation.
General course topics to be offered include:
- Introduction of Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
- Fermentation Process Development and Scale-Up
- Upstream and Downstream Purification and Separations
- Tangential Flow Filtration - Principles and Applied Techniques for HF and Cassettes
- Chromatography - Techniques and Methods Development
- Environment Compliance - A Multi-Media Analysis of Responsibilities
- Current Good Manufacturing Practices for Biotechnology, Drug and Biologics Industry
Custom Tailored On-Site Program
In addition to short courses (lectures and workshops) at the URI Feinstein College of Continuing Education, the program also works with companies to bring lecture programs directly to their facility. The program boasts an impressive clientele with industry powerhouses such as Amgen, Merck, Cambrex, Stryker and Wyeth, to name a few. The Biotechnology Training Initiative at URI is established to develop and offer a highly specialized program that will effectively train new hires as well as refine the technical knowledge of experienced personnel.
