How to Register for a Course

• Getting a UserID        • Log on to e-Campus
• When to Register          • Getting Help on e-Campus
• Searching for Courses & Course Information
      on e-Campus

Registering for Courses

Registration for credit courses at all campuses of URI is accomplished through the e-Campus web-based system. In order to access e-Campus, students must have a 9-digit UserID. Once you have acquired a UserID, you may sign on to e-Campus to register for courses.

All registration will be done over the web, using the e-Campus system. Please read the following instructions carefully.

Getting a UserID

Returning Students

If you have enrolled for at least one course since the Spring 2004 semester, there is no need to apply before using the on-line registration system. The University has a number of computers to access on-line registration at the Shepard Building in Providence and on the Kingston campus at the Memorial Union Commuter Lounge, the Library, and the Great Room in Green Hall (Enrollment Services). If you do not qualify to access the web registration system, please complete the pdf application form (click here to download) and follow the instructions. (Please be sure to include your email address somewhere on the form.)

New Students

New matriculated (degree) students will be issued a UserID when they are admitted to the University. New non-matriculated (non-degree) students will need to submit a Non-Degree Student Application Form (click here to download) to the University in order to be issued a UserID. Be sure to include your email address somewhere on the form.) Once the form and fee have been submitted, the student will be entered into e-Campus and assigned a UserID. The student will then be able to register with e-Campus and sign up for courses.

URI Employees

URI employees who wish to take courses will use the UserID issued to them as an employee.

When to Register

Each semester, students are given a registration appointment time, after which they will have access to register for the following semester. The system will not allow them to register before this time.
Once a student has been assigned a UserID, the student will be able to see their appointment time. To find your assigned time to enroll for the semester, look in the right hand column of your “Student Center” screen and click on “open enrollment dates.”  If you are eligible to register for the next semester (and enrollment times have been assigned), you will see when you are eligible to register.
Matriculated students' appointment times are set depending on the number of credits a student has earned.

Non-matriculated students are assigned a time after matriculated students have registered.

Searching for Courses & Course Information on e-Campus

In e-Campus, you may look for a course -- either by signing on to e-Campus, or without signing on to e-Campus.

Signing on to e-Campus (You must have an e-Campus UserID to follow this step.)

To get to the e-Campus homepage, click on the "Log on to e-Campus" logo on any of the URI homepages (Kingston Campus, Providence Campus, Narragansett Campus) http://www.uri.edu/ecampus.

On your Student Center page, at the top of the right hand column, click on the button “Search for Classes.”  In the next screen, make sure the correct semester is shown (if not, click on the arrow to select the semester you want).  Then click “Go.”

Without signing on to e-Campus

From the e-Campus homepage, click on "Course Schedule" in the upper center of the screen, or click on the image below.

NOTE:

In e-Campus, semesters (terms) are denoted by a 4-digit number. The first digit denotes the century (2 for the 21st century), the second and third digits are the specific year (08 for 2008, 09 for 2009) and the last digit denotes the month the term begins

  • 1 for spring term - January
  • 6 for the summer term - June
  • 9 for the fall term - September)

Therefore, if you are looking for classes for the Spring 08 Term use 2081 or if you are looking for Summer 08 classes use 2086 and for Fall 08 use 2089
