The evening of original One Act plays by Rhode Island College Theatre MFA Alumni includes “Talking To Plants” and “For Him” by Ryan Morey, and “A Visit”, “Unfinished Business” and “If Romeo and Juliet Met John Edwards” By Frank V. Toti, Jr., performed by URI, RIC, CCRI Alumni actors: Bonnie Griffin, Chuck Lafond, Joan Peralta, Frank V. Toti Jr. The Production is designed and produced by RIC Alumni Steven Pennell with URI and RIC Theatre Student technicians. “Talking to Plants” explores an unexpected relationship that blossoms between a middle aged man who talks to plants in his garden, and his neighbor who is a youth on the edge of adulthood and self discovery. “For Him” explores a complicated dance by Tim, a happily married man, who meets another guy he finds attractive. He must work out the choreography of this unexpected life melody to find harmony for all the dancers. “A Visit” finds Levon packing up the clothing and memories from his life with his recently departed partner. In reverie, he is visited unexpectedly by his partner –memory, ghost or reality – as Levon makes important discoveries. “If Romeo and Juliet…” well everyone knows their story before the tragic ending – but what is their story afterward? Maybe it is not what you think – perhaps calling on that clairvoyant, John Edwards can reveal a glimpse of their life after poison and dagger? “Unfinished Business” finds a brother and sister reunited, after years of separation, at the death of their grandmother. Pieces from the past need to be unearthed before they can be packed up, so that each of the siblings can move forward. The production is presented for Rhode Island Pride with humor and heart!
