Learn Chinese or German This Summer!
URI is offering residential intensive language programs in Chinese and German this summer. Please attend our Summer Residential Language Immersion Programs Information Session on Wednesday, March 11 at 6:30 PM in CCE Room 207.
Chinese Summer Immersion Program
University of Rhode Island & Zhejiang
University
May 19 – July 19, 2009
An 8-week program beginning with a four-week immersion at the University of Rhode Island, where instructors and students live together in a supportive Chinese-only community. After building a foundation and gaining confidence in Mandarin at URI, the group flies to Hangzhou, China for four weeks at Zhejiang University. The China portion includes cultural and industry visits and weekend excursions. No Chinese experience necessary. Beginning and intermediate intensive courses are offered.

German Summer
Immersion Program

This fully accredited intensive German language and culture program offers intensive instruction to adult learners of all ages from the beginning to the advanced level in a German-only environment. It is ideally suited for anyone who wants to develop his or her German language proficiency in an immersion setting. Many of our students are actively preparing for a study abroad experience. The program draws participants from all over the U.S. Students and instructors live together in a modern and pleasant environment, offering a microcosm of the German-speaking world. In addition to the required core instruction in the morning, optional short courses on topics such as Business German, Intercultural Communication and Pronunciation and Intonation will be offered in the afternoons. Finally, we have an extensive extra-curricular program including theater and music workshops, film screenings, cultural presentations, lectures, games, excursions and picnics at nearby beaches.
