Each year the Public School Art Exhibit includes between 250 and 350 works of art in all media (2 and 3 dimensional including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, construction, collage, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, fabric art) created by K-12 students from across the state. The work illustrates the talent of our young people; the hard work, dedication and inspiration of their teachers; and the important relationship between the arts creative thinking, and all of the basic skills (Reading, Writing, Mathematics and the Sciences).  It clearly illustrates the integration of the arts into all of the other disciplines through the art education curriculum.

This year the East Providence School System has been chosen for The Gift of Art to the State of Rhode Island due to their extraordinary work in the visual and performing arts. The Rhode Island Alliance for Art Education and the Gift of Art program are funded in part by the Kennedy Center Alliance for the Arts. Each year a school system is chosen for its outstanding work in Art Education. They donate nine works of art, three each from elementary, middle and high school which are framed and become a part of a permanent collection proudly displayed at the URI Feinstein Providence Campus in the 2nd floor gallery.
