Women’s Alliance & Network, the National
Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah about BRCA1
and BRCA 2 in the Paff Auditorium.
The BIG C Exhibit will include artwork in
all media by more than 30 professional artists from
the area, community members who have had Cancer,
their families and health care providers. The exhibit
is designed to encourage those who have had the disease
to share their stories, and to educate the community
about early detection, prevention and treatment options.
It focuses on developing positive outlets for self
expression, visualization and creativity, healthy
eating and living choices to improve mental and physical
health and information on treatment options. Educational
and informational materials will be available from
area oncology treatment programs and health care
agencies including Women and Infants Oncology, YWCA,
Breast Cancer Coalition, American Cancer Society
and the Jewish Federation Women’s Alliance
and Network, the National council of Jewish Women
and Hadassah.
On the evening of Gallery Night, there will be a
reading and book signing by Professor Mary Cappello at
7:00 pm from her new book “CALLED BACK -
My Reply to Cancer, My Reply to Life”.
The book is about her recent struggle with Breast
Cancer. There will be opportunities for story sharing
by individuals who have had Breast Cancer and representatives
from health care organizations to educate, provide
support and information.
A special program WHAT YOUR MOTHER DID NOT TELL
YOU BECAUSE SHE DID NOT KNOW on BRCA1 and BRCA
2 will take place on October 20 at 7:00 pm. The
program will include speakers: Cindy Benson, Rabbi
Kanter and Dr. Meredith Dench who will
follow their presentations with a Q&A session
and a reception. The event is presented by Jewish
Federation Women’s Alliance & Network,
the National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah.
Valet Parking will be provided.
The exhibit will include several pieces created
by the late Christiane Corbat and work by Tom
Anderson, Dianne Arvisaif, Majorie Ball, Mary Ellen
Benoit, Norma Charest, Erin Coonan, Pam Cruze, Carolyn
Daniel, Ryan Dean, Jane Dillon, Daria Emma, Martha
Gallego, Winifred Jolicoeur, Fredrick Kent, Joan
