New Email System for Students
To all URI Students:
We are pleased to announce that based on the requests and suggestions from students, and supported by research, our Office of Information Technology Services has migrated the University's mail.uri.edu system to a new Google-hosted email system.
Our new "my.uri.edu" system network is now set up and is ready for your use! Now all undergraduate and graduate student email addresses become part of the "my.uri.edu" network.
Your email User ID and password for my.uri.edu are the same as those you use for Sakai, Wireless, or WebMail access. Your new email address will look like: jdoe@my.uri.edu.
The link to this new email system, my.uri.edu is located at the bottom of the URI home page.
This move does mean more than just a name and address change. It means many new features, including better storage, larger message size capacity, and more. All official University communication -- from faculty, Enrollment Services, Emergency Alerts, among others -- will be sent to students' @my.uri.edu addresses.
While your @my.uri.edu account is now active, the Office of Information Technology Services wants you to know some important transition dates:
- May 23, 2010, @my.uri.edu becomes your official URI email address. Incoming email sent to your @mail.uri.edu address will automatically be forwarded to your new @my.uri.edu address. This will continue until September 1, 2011.
- July 1, 2010, access to your mail.uri.edu address ends completely. If you discover that you left something you need on that address, contact the Help Desk.
- October 1, 2010, all student mail.uri.edu addresses will be deleted.
- September 1, 2011, automatic email forwarding from mail.uri.edu ends. After that, all email must be sent to your new @my.uri.edu address in order for you to receive it.
