Italian Americana | Call For Papers

Submissions of 20 double-spaced pages maximum, following the latest MLA Style Sheet, are invited in the areas of Italian American history, sociology, political science, literature, art, folk art, anthropology, music, psychology, theoretical and philosophical approaches to ethnicity, etc., and short stories.

Book reviews of 1,000 words and poetry of no more than three pages are welcome.

Submissions by historians, social scientists, literary critics, etc., of Italian are encouraged when related to Italian American studies. Comparative literature analysis is welcome when related to Italian American literature.

Please submit materials in triplicate with an SASE. All submissions will be reviewed by the editor and two readers. Name should appear on the first page only with article title on subsequent pages.

Announcing the $500 MASSARO PRIZE:

Through the generosity of Judge Dominic R. Massaro of New York City, an annual Massaro Prize of $500 per year will be awarded for the best critical essay that appears in Italian Americana each year on an historical theme, be it social, political, economic, or literary. The $500 prize will be announced each spring and the recipient of the award will be identified in the fall. A committee named by Italian Americana will determine the winner. The competition is open to all to encourage the documentation and study of the Italian American experience. Manuscripts should be no longer than thirty (30) typed, double-spaced pages, including notes. Each and every year, the deadline for the submission of titles will be July 1.
