Ann Morrissey

Ann Morrissey has worked in the field of leadership and organizational development for over 25 years. She began her career at URI in 1988 initiating the University’s Student Leadership program for which she received the New England Outstanding Staff Programmer Award from the National Association of Student Activities and 2nd place in the NACA National Price Papers Competition for her article on student involvement. Ann moved into the area of organizational and staff development and University-wide planning in 1997 and then for six years was the Executive Assistant to the President and Co-Director of Planning Services.
As the Special Assistant to the Provost for Academic Planning, Ann provides consultation and facilitation in planning and organizational development for the University community. She holds a Masters degree in Education/Counseling and Guidance from URI and a BA in Social Work with a second major in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire and maintains several professional certifications in Organizational Development Consulting, Strategic Planning, and Executive Coaching. Ann has also served as an independent management consultant and strategic planning facilitator for many RI non-profit organizations as well as for-profit companies.
Committed to social justice issues, Ann maintains community involvement particularly in the areas of prevention of child abuse and neglect and gay rights to which she is deeply committed. She has served as a volunteer guardian for RI CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) since 2002. She is also a member of the University’s Equity Council, the President’s Commission on the Status of Women, and Chair of the URI LGBTIQQ.
