Graduate Education

Based on the URI Academic Plan 2010-2015, the following goals and strategies related to graduate education are recommended as the charge to a task force who will be advisory to the Dean of the Graduate School.

  1. Expand international/global programs
    • Expand enrollment of international students
    • Investigate joint - and dual-degree programs with other universities worldwide
  2. Increase the diversity of students and faculty
    • Coordinate with the Graduate School’s Diversity Coordinator
    • Recruit and retain a diverse student body and graduate faculty members
  3. Enhance research and innovation
    • Increase outside support for the Graduate School
    • Increase Graduate School’s grant support to faculty and students
  4. Increase the Graduate School’s support of interdisciplinary and experiential programs and research
    • Create a mechanism for the graduate school to be the base for funded projects that link researchers across campus
    • Explore methods for faculty and students to be aware of the research and teaching occurring outside their discipline
