Attached is the outline of the information format to be used in 2010-2011 by all faculty members who will be considered for promotion and tenure. Please notice that the Dean's and Chairperson's recommendations should be at the front of the materials. The Deans' offices will ensure that these are in the correct order. It is intended to summarize and clarify the materials submitted for review and has been designed to permit some flexibility in their presentation.
While some attention will be given to the quantity of a faculty member's contributions, the principal concern will be the quality of one's contributions. The quantity and quality of a faculty member's contributions also must be commensurate with the expectation of the University, the faculty member's college, and the faculty member's discipline.
A faculty member's individual assignment, and the University's expectations of that faculty member's assignment, will vary, as is implicit in the statement of criteria for promotion and tenure in Section 7.22.10 of the University Manual.
The attached instructions for formatting the materials for promotion and tenure are designed to indicate the University of Rhode Island's accepted method of presenting and clarifying the materials submitted for review and of highlighting the quality of each faculty member's particular contributions.
Please see that the attached format is provided to all faculty members who are eligible for promotion/tenure this year.
