Duties and Responsibilities:
Position is limited to 06/30/2010 with extension contingent on the funding.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Implement and maintain digital forensics software and equipment systems, and use them in performing digital forensics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement, maintain and document digital forensics research environment software as directed by the Digital Forensics Center (DFC) management team leaders.
Use digital forensics software and systems to perform digital forensics investigations.
Provide training to Digital Forensics Center (DFC) staff and others; evaluate digital forensics software tools and services; and prepare and present Web-based and multi-media dissemination and training of research results.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform functions normally assigned to a DFC Lead Information Technologist, although to a lesser extent.
Maintain a high level of understanding of current developments in the digital forensics field and anticipate future needs.
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Must be a Certified Computer Examiner (CCE Certification), AcessData Ace Certified, and X-Ways Forensics Training Certified. Must be proficient in and able to train others in digital forensics tools: FTK, EnCase, and X-Ways. Must be proficient in working with computer hardware and digital forensics hardware.

1) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with demonstrable course work in all of the following: digital forensics and network forensics, or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and additional experience;
2) one year of experience in an information technology position in a law enforcement setting, or two years of experience that included a substantial amount of information technology work, at least one of which was in a law enforcement setting.
3) Whether one or two years of experience, experience working with all of the following digital forensics software: EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, SAFE Block, FTK Imager, and SAFE; Web development.
4) Must have technical knowledge of digital forensics and be proficient in PhP and Java programming.
5) Must be a Certified Computer Examiner (CCE Certification), AccessData ACE Certified, and X-Ways Forensics Training Certified.
6) Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be able to interpret and adhere to institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules, regulations, and standards, and to communicate the interpretation to subordinates and others.
