Rachel Poirier - Rachel is a senior majoring in political science with a 3.39 GPA. She is a member and President of the URI Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Her Habitat work has taken her away from URI to Guatemala to build homes. She has served as Vice-President of Speakeasy, conference coordinator for Mothers Against Drunk Driving RI, and Resident Assistant in Barlow Hall. In addition, she has successfully planned a benefit concert for AIDS Project Rhode Island and Until the Cure. Rachel was a founding member of Zeta Epilson Tau Alpha and of After Hours, an a cappella group. She has also held membership in Students for Social Change and Phi Eta Sigma. Rachel views college as “a time when you figure out your place in the world.
Kirsten
Olson –Kirsten is from Gorham, Maine, and carries
a 3.4 GPA as a senior majoring in Business Administration with a
minor in Leadership Studies. As Captain of the Softball team, Kirsten
spends many hours working with the team. Kirsten also works for the
betterment of all athletes. She was appointed the student representative
to the steering committee for NCAA re-certification, was selected
as the student-athlete representative to the Director of Athletics
search committee, is a founding member of the Student Athletic Advisory
Committee (SAAC), having served as Corresponding Secretary and is
the current President. Kirsten was selected as URI’s representative
for the Atlantic 10 Conference SAAC. Kirsten’s involvement
and presence can be felt beyond the athletic complex. She was a founding
member of the ZETA sorority, is a member of the Peer Advocates, and
was installed as a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor
Society. |
