Robert L. Carothers Award for Outstanding Service to the URI Community Leadership Nomination Criteria:
- Undergraduate student in a degree program currently enrolled in at least 6 credits.
- In Good standing with the University.
- Min. 2.5 GPA semester or cumulative average of at least 2.5 either as of spring 2011 or fall 2011.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, empower and inspire others toward a shared vision.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting underrepresented or less privileged individuals in society and/or the principles of social justice.
- Embodies the 10 characteristics of a Servant Leader: Listening, Empathy, Healing, Awareness, Persuasion, Conceptualization, Foresight, Stewardship, Commitment to the Growth of People, Building Community.
- Demonstrates a long-term commitment to making a positive and measurable impact related to a specific cause or social issue that affects the URI, RI and/or global community.
- Student does not have to hold a specific leadership position at URI to be eligible for this award.
