All aquatics certifications are taught by American Red Cross-certified instructors. Please note that participation in a certification class does not guarantee certification. All skills related to the certification must be properly demonstrated (as defined by course outline) in order to receive certification.

This course teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be certified in Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Absence from any of the classes will result in a failure of the course and forfeiture of the registration fee. Instructors are not permitted to make up missed material with participants. Lifeguard Training books and pocket masks are provided to class participants upon registration.

Pre-Course Skills Test
Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, consisting of 100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breaststroke, and 100 yards mixed front crawl and breaststroke. Additionally, they must retrieve a 10 pound brick from 10 feet of water, swim the brick 20 yards back to the side of the pool, and get out of the water without using the ladder or stairs. The brick retrieval portion must be completed in 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Fees: Member $225 / Non-Member $255 - fee includes textbook and training materials. If pre-course skills test is not passed, 90% of course registration will be placed on the customer account. No refunds are given.
Certification Requirements: The candidate must demonstrate competency in each required skill taught in a course. Competency is defined as being able to perform each skill to meet the objective without guidance. Candidates must pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80%. If the final written exam has more than one section, a minimum grade of 80% must be achieved on each section.
