Colleen A. Redding, Ph.D. has worked as an
Associate Research Professor at the Cancer Prevention Research Center
and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the
University of Rhode Island since 1994. She specializes in clinical
health psychology and has been a principal or co-investigator on at
least 25 federally funded research projects studying multiple health
behavior changes in diverse populations and settings. She has at least
55 peer-reviewed publications and extensive experience developing and
evaluating Transtheoretical Model-based interventions across a wide
range of problem behaviors. She received recognition for excellence in
research from the University in 2005. Her interests are broad, including
mechanisms of primary and secondary prevention of physical and mental
health problems. Her work has explored TTM constructs as well as
interpersonal influences on health behaviors and predictors of change
over time. She is especially interested in ways to improve sexual
health, family health, coping with illness, and adolescent health.
