Vice President for Research and
Economic Development

The University of Rhode Island as a public research university provides an outstanding quality education for students and also carries out innovative research and scholarly activity in many areas, including science, engineering, education, social sciences, humanities and health.  Faculty, students and staff are all engaged in the conduct of research and scholarly activity.  The pursuit of new discoveries enhances the educational experience for our current students and allows us to attract exceptional faculty, staff and students to the University.

The role of the Division of Research and Economic Development is to help and support all research and scholarly activity and to provide appropriate service to the University community towards the development of outstanding research programs.  Additionally, the protection, development and utilization of the intellectual property from university research and scholarly endeavors are also the responsibility of the Division, with a goal of enhancement of the economic development of the State of Rhode Island.  We are here to assist academic, corporate and government partners to access and utilize our unique technologies.

Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding the services we provide to the University community and to discover and discuss the possibilities of our intellectual property.  It is an honor and a pleasure for me, as well as all of the staff of the Division of Research and Economic Development, to serve the University of Rhode Island.
