Award Description.

Selected projects will:
(1) receive planning funds of up to $2000 and
(2) be eligible for implementation funds of up to $3000.

RICH will award up to $5000 total to sponsoring organizations in two stages: $2000 maximum for the planning stage followed by $3000 maxiumum for the implementation stage. The award of planning funds carries a $1250 stipend for a humanities scholar. During the planning stage, RICH expects grantees to develop a detailed plan for carrying out the project and a detailed project implementation budget. Both documents must be submitted to RICH by August 1, 2003. Grantees may then seek implementation funds. Depending on program demands and excellence, RICH may award up to an additional $3000 for program implementation of which at least $450 must be expended towards program publicity. Project implementation must occur by March 1, 2004. After project implementation, final narrative and expenditure reports must be submitted to RICH. Additional application procedures and award conditions may be required.

Award Terms.
Projects must match RICH funds with an equivalent amount of cash or in-kind contributions from non-federal sources for both the planning and implementation stages. (Please Note: Matching funds for the project implementation stage must include at least $2000 cash contribution derived from non-federal sources.) Grantees must prominently acknowledge RICH and NEH support; and RICH funds must not be used for private research, performance in the arts, refreshments, restoration work, construction work, equipment purchases or fundraising.
