AVS 102 - Introduction to Animal Science Laboratory
Field trips to local livestock farms.
Experience working with animals at the University farm.
AVS 104 - Animal Management Techniques
Students will gain extensive experience handling and managing the animals at the University farm.
200-Level Course Experiences
AVS 212 - Feeds and Feeding
Students will learn how to calculate nutrient content and cost analysis, balance formulas and rations using computer software/hardware specific to the field and ultimately develop a practical ration for livestock and poultry.
300-Level Course Experiences
AVS 323 - Animal Management I
The professor adds field trips and demonstrations to the class structure making it interactive and exciting.
AVS 365 - Laboratory Animal Technology
Practical experience in dissection, handling, restraint and other laboratory techniques.
400-Level Course Experiences
AVS 462 - Laboratory Animal Technology II
Students will learn handling, restraint, oral gavage, injections, anesthesia, surgical techniques, euthanasia and necropsy procedures.
AVS 472 - Physiology of Reproduction
Students will have the opportunity to gain experience with cutting edge reproductive techniques used within the industry today.
