In-Class

Professors understand how important it is for students to learn by doing and seeing. They have built opportunities for experiential learning into the overall five-year curriculum and their individual courses. These can take many different forms such as:

  • field trips
  • problem-solving exercises
  • service learning experiences
  • laboratories

Almost all courses in the physics department include problem solving (in class and for homework) and demonstrations, and encourage class discussions or student questions. Laboratories provide students with hands-on experience with the topics learned in lectures. Some courses include additional forms of experiential learning, which are described in Course Experiences.
