Welcome to the Phi Chapter of Sigma Kappa!

Here at the Phi Chapter of Sigma Kappa, we are proud to be the oldest and one of the largest sorority chapters at the University of Rhode Island. The sisters of SK are extremely involved in campus life and strive to make this campus a better place. Personal growth and service are two values of SK and we make it our mission to succeed. Sisters are involved in varsity and intramural athletic teams, religious organizations, SAA, artistic clubs, tour guides, and hold leadership roles as Greek 101 mentors, URI 101 mentors. The sister of SK have members of various scholastic societies and honor societies as we recognize academics as a main priority in college life which is reflected upon in our constantly high GPA.

We host countless of wonderful events during the year to bring our sorority together. From having formals to hosting sisterhood and social events there is always something to do in Sigma Kappa. Our philanthropies include the Alzheimer’s Association, Main Sea Cost Mission, Inherit the Earth, and Gerontology studies with focus on Alzheimer’s Disease. We are proud to hold fundraisers such as Pj’s and Pancakes, Alzheimer's walk in Newport and Jello Tug of War to help raise money for our philanthropies. At Sigma Kappa we stay involved in the Greek community as well as the URI community. We received the highest GPA award in fall of 2011 as well as won the Greek Lip Sync competition two years in a row in 2011 and 2012. Sigma Kappa was also awarded sorority of the year in 2012 which is a reflection of our hard work and dedication to not only the community and Greek life but to our sisterhood as well. Sigma Kappa is a home away from home where a group of young women have come together to set up a place where you can always find someone to confide in, to go out with, or stay in and watch a movie. The best thing about having a sister in Sigma Kappa is that you always have a friend.
