Maeghan Deasy
'98 Truly one of the outstanding individual meets, one of many,
at the 1997 Atlantic Ten Coference Championships, as well as at the 1997
ECAC Championships, was put in by Maeghan. She did four year best times in
all of her spring freestyle swims becoming instrumental in our 200 and 400
Freestyle Relays establishing varsity records last February. She is a fiery
competitor who will certainly provide strong leadership come meet time. She
is a three year letterperson whose additional specialty involves spring
breaststroke. Maeghan's hometown is wappings Falls, NY; her major is Human
Development and Family Studies; she has broadened commitment to the
University by serving on the Department's Student Advisory Board.
Desiree Derix
'98 One of the steadying influences on the Team for the past
three years has been this Westerly, RI native. Desiree walked onto our
program in her freshman year and has shown steady improvement all three
years; this improvement was recognized last spring when she was selected as
one of our tri-captains for the 1997-1998 season. Desiree qualified for the
Atlantic Ten Championships all three years of her participation, and in 1997
she earned her first letter. She is an Elementary Education major carrying a
3.39 cumulative GPA. She has been on the Dean's List four semesters.
Kerri Sherman
'99 It is certainly an outstanding accomplishment to be selected
as a Team Tri-captain in your junior year. Although saddled with nagging
injuries her first two seasons with the Rams, Kerri overcame those setbacks
and was another one of those swimmers who had an outstanding championship
season in 1997. Kerri will be our number-one Butterflier in 1997-1998, and
she will be called upon to show her considerable talent and versatility by
swimming the IM and Freestyle events up to 200 yards. She is one of our best
pure athletes! Kerri majors in Human Development and Family Studies.
