As he was at one time a student in the University's College of Continuing Education, the late Dr. Mongeau recognized that scholastic excellence achieved by the adult who returns to the classroom to acquire an undergraduate degree requires encouragement and deserves recognition. In 1982, this former URI/CCE Professor with the assistance of Dean Walter Crocker, established Epsilon Rho Chapter of the adult student honor society, Alpha Sigma Lambda at URI/CCE.
