President's Message

Dear ASL Members

It gives me great pleasure to announce the 22nd Annual Alpha Sigma Lambda Epsilon Rho Chapter Induction Ceremony. This Year's event will be held on Sunday, April 26th, at 1:00 pm in the Paff Auditorium.

Our efforts to make Alpha Sigma Lambda a visible organization for URI/CCE and a rewarding experience for students have met with much success. Last year, we implememted the Carol A. Horridge Award for an alumna who had shown continued professional leadership, commitment to education and community outreach activities. But there is much more to be done, and we cannot do it without your support. We urge your support by renewing your membership and participating in this year's induction ceremony, as well as other upcoming initiatives planned throughout the year.

I realize that many members are no longer in the academic community. As our professional and personal demands become more complex, it is easy to lose interest or beome disassociated with ASL and its activities. However, we ask you to step back for a moment and remember your induction experience and the sense of achievement and pride you felt. ASL is unique in that it acknowledges the adult students who have disciplined themselves to balance work and home demands, yet achieve academic excellence.

Also, we welcome your involvement! If you have ideas with respect to ceremony format or arrangements, or would like to help plan this event or have any questions/concerns, please contact Cessie Hernandez at 401-277-5163, or me at 401-946-4905.

I look forward to your support and hope to see you April 26th!
