Curriculum
Vitae Resource:
Dr.
Hume's CV guidelines- Evidence of your five,
six, seven or more years at the University of Rhode Island.
A Curriculum vitae or CV:
- Differs from a resume in that the former lists all of your
professional experiences including education, work history,
involvement with professional organizations, presentations,
publications, and research projects. A resume is usually
limited to one page listing your education and work experience.
- Is always a "work in progress". You
should be revising a CV on a regular basis. For example,
five years after graduation, your CV shouldn't still contain
items from your clerkships.
- Contains no spelling errors, avoids excessive changes in
font size and style, and is printed on high quality paper
using a laser jet printer. In a word, your CV must be
professional.
- Contains the truth, and nothing but the truth, about your experiences.
The addition of "fluff" to a CV is easily
detected.
- Is prepared over several weeks, and not
overnight.
- Is a document that should be reviewed by several faculty
members, although you may get differing, or even contradictory
opinions.
