Summer Dance Session 2012
Our summer practice session will be starting on Wednesday, June 6th and running every Wednesday (excepth July 4th) through August 22nd. The first two classes will be held at the Catholic Center and the remainder of the classes will be held in the Multi-Cultural Center on the Kingston Campus. All classes run from 6:30 - 9PM with practice and socializing time from 6 - 6:30. You can also join our Facebook group.
-
The summer session will be $25 for students (high school or any college or university) and $35 for adults. This fee is for the whole summer, not per class or per month.
-
The session will be for all levels of dancers. Whether you're a total beginner or dancing at the gold level you'll get plenty of useful information. We'll be talking a lot about technique and then breaking up into groups to apply the technique to beginner pre-bronze / bronze figures and then to silver / gold figures.
-
You do not need a partner or any experience.
-
If you're not already on our summer mailing list, please e-mail me at ballroom@etal.uri.edu so I can add you to the list for any announcements regarding summer practice.
-
I'd suggest you bring a notebook and pen or pencil for taking notes as I'll be giving out a lot of information rapidly, water, and appropriate dance wear. Dance shoes are recommended but not required.
-
You do not need to be affiliated with URI to attend our practice session, students from any school are welcome as are adults.
-
If you have to miss a week or two it's no problem. We'll be covering basic rumba technique the first two weeks, moving on to basic standard / smooth technique the third week, and then we'll be doing a different dance every week after. That way if you're on vacation, working, etc. it won't matter if you have to miss a week.
- No advance registration or sign-up is required, simply come to the class.
