Minutes 2/11/04

Sorry i took so long getting these out... first i needed to talk to Kevin about the details, then i forgot, then i needed to talk to Kevin... and then i forgot again... you get the point.

Next week (2/25/04) Dave Beutel will be coming to talk to us about the Bizarre Fish of Rhode Island. We'll be meeting in the conference room in woodward at our normal time.

There was a budget meeting last week- Kevin went and reported to us what was going on. Basically, we're getting less money put into our budget automatically, but we still have a lot of money available, we just have to ask for it as we want it. We do have money alloted for at least one trip out on the Cap'n Bert, a whale watch (cuz next year we're finally gonna make it happen), and a trip to Mystic. Anything else we decide we want we need to ask for ahead of time.

T Shirt designs... anyone? Please? Come on... you know you want to!

The meeting tonight (2/18/04) is supposedly a trip to go ice skating in providence. It will cost $7 to get in and rent skates, and rides are supposed to be available. This is where those details I needed to ask Kevin about come in. Im assuming that the meeting will be at normal time, meet in Woodward Hall and leave from there. Please, if you are planning on going, check your email again later, cuz if I manage to get ahold of Kevin and plans change, I'll email you all again. Hopefully we can get this all worked out...

Unless I talk to you later, thats it till next weeks meeting, have a good week
Shannon

If this is your first time recieving email from us, welcome! If you do not wish to recieve these emails, please reply to this address and let me know, and I will be sure to remove you from the list. Thanks

Not a whole lot going on this week, but I'll tell you about some upcoming events.
~On Feb 25, Dave Beutel will be speaking at our meeting about the bizarre sea creatures of Rhode Island. This will be at our normal meeting time, and will probably be in Woodward Conference room.
~Dave Beutel is also planning on going to the Boston Seafood Show on Mar 16th (the tues after spring break) He is planning on leaving around 9:30 and will be back around 6 if anyone is interested in going. The cost to get in is $20 if you register ahead.
~T-Shirts- we can get navy and white t-shirts, with a large graphic on the back and a small "pocket" graphic on the front for roughly $6.50-$8. Our current idea has something to do with a codfish and a "large beverage container" with a slogan somewhere along the lines of "its better when its wetter". We still need to come up with an actual graphic, so if you can draw, please, do something and get it to us! We hope to get these shirts before the end of the semester!
~We are considering having another "random group outing" on the 18th to go ice skating. It will cost about $7 per person. If you are interested in going, make sure to show up at the meeting on the 18th.
~We are going to try to get a few more speakers to come sometime this semester- we still need to ask Dr Kenney, and re-ask Dr Wilga.
~The Excellence awards (for teachers, staff, etc) are coming up. Please let us know if you have any teachers you would like to nominate, and we'll put them in on behalf of the marine science society.
~Where is the file cabinet? Does anyone know? If you do, please let us know, other than that, we need to hunt it down.
~Fish tank- we are starting (slowly) to take control over it. Anyone willing in helping out, please let me know, so we can establish a maintenence schedule. I hope that this can be done by next week at the latest so that our fish can remain happy and healthy.

Ok, thats about it for now, If anyone has anything else to add, feel free to email me.
Have a great week
Shannon
